Learn2Work is the result of thoughtful problem-solving, purposeful collaboration and relentless commitment that creates a unique and effective pathway for youth facing multiple barriers to obtain gainful and meaningful employment opportunities.

LEARN2WORK

Youth LEAPS partnered with Goodwill and Frontier College, with support from Toronto Employment and Social Services, to create Learn2Work which helps support at-risk youth who are suffering from chronic unemployment and underemployment.

Learn2Work is a unique classroom to careers initiative that allows participants to obtain their high school equivalency certificate and receive a paid job opportunity to explore careers of their choosing.

LEARN2WORK MODEL

Learn2Work now works with the YMCA and Frontier College to offer a six (6) month program which is structured into two (2) modules :

1.    Learn Module

2.    Work Module

Participants first complete the three (3) month Learn Module which provides them with individually designed learning plans and course instruction in preparation to obtain their high school equivalency certificate.

Additionally, during the Learn Moduleparticipants receive comprehensive professional and personal skill development that includes employer recognized soft-skills, job-readiness training and access to relevant social services that better equip the participants for employment.

Following the Learn Module, participants begin a three (3) month Work Module which consists of youth obtaining a full-time, paid work opportunity in a career path of their interest. During the Work Module, participants continue to receive personalized case management, access to social services and job coaching.
